Final Straw
“…and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.” (v.10)
Satan’s ultimate end is judgement and eternal punishment. It is the final end to a war that began countless ages ago:
“Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.” (Rev. 12:7-9)
Any and all who are aligned with Satan will be judged and destroyed or tormented for eternity. (It depends on what or who you are as to what punishment you receive.) The end of Satan means the end of lies and false accusation. Imagine this! A clean conscience. No more guilt or unnecessary fear. Satan is relentless in his accusations - both to God and to us. (cf. Job 1) Isn’t this one of our greatest fears? That one day God might say, “Satan… you know… you are right after all, that human isn’t worth it!” GOD WILL NEVER SAY THIS ABOUT HIS CHILDREN.
“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?…No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” (Romans 8:31-37)
This is what is held out to us in Christ. This is eternal life. God’s love and forgiveness. Never buy the accusations of the Devil. Do not be afraid. He has no sway over the Lord. The Lord’s mid is made up concerning you… if you are his child in Christ his love for you is never ending. You too are “more than conquerors”! Know this, God will complete his work he began in you… nothing is wasted. “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” (Phil 1:6) Love you guys. - JDP
