A Question from the Scriptures
“Who is wise and understanding among you?” (v.13)
How would you answer the above question? Who actually is “wise and understanding among you?” The scriptures forced me to think about this… I wondered who I would point to as “wise and understanding” in my midst. Over the next couple of days, we will be looking at this passage and what it teaches us about Godly wisdom.
For today, I want you to ponder how you would answer the rhetorical question from James 3:13. Take some time to write out what you think the heart of Godly wisdom is… what makes a person truly “wise” in a biblical sense? Spend some time asking the Lord what he has to say about it. Ask the Lord to identify, for you, the Godly and wise example(s) that he has placed around you. If a name clearly comes up, maybe write to them or encourage them… tell them thanks for being a good example! Maybe you can jot down a couple of pressing questions you want to ask them and then set up a time to talk. No matter what, ask the Lord to paint a picture of “wise and understanding” for you. Write out your ideas if you get a chance… they will be helpful as we walk through the rest of this passage. More to come next time. Love you guys. - JDP
